Once both parties have presented their initial pleadings, the lawsuit moves into the discovery phase. During this phase, each party gathers evidence, interviews witnesses, and conducts depositions to build their case. Discovery allows both parties to learn more about the other's arguments and evidence, to reach a fair resolution.

If a resolution cannot be reached through settlement negotiations or alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation or arbitration, the lawsuit proceeds to trial. At trial, both parties present their arguments and evidence before a judge or jury who will ultimately decide the outcome of the case. The judge or jury will evaluate the facts presented and apply relevant laws to reach a verdict.
